Based on your itinerary, we recommend staying at a lodging near Nakatsugawa Station.
If you arrive in the morning, you can hike the Nakasendo Trail on the same day. However, carrying large luggage can be inconvenient. Book a lodging near Nakatsugawa Station and leave your luggage there before check-in. After leaving your luggage, you can board a bus from Nakatsugawa Station to Magome and begin the Nakasendo Trail. After hiking the Nakasendo Trail for about four hours, return to Nakatsugawa Station, stay overnight at a lodging, and relax before heading to your next destination the next day. (If you just want to see the post towns, the bus ride is about two hours.)
