Based on your itinerary, we recommend staying at a lodging near Nakatsugawa Station or Nagiso Station.
If you’re coming from Nagano and arriving in the morning, you can hike the Nakasendo Trail on the day you arrive. Large luggage can be inconvenient. Leave your luggage at your lodging before check-in. After leaving your luggage, set off on the Nakasendo Trail. If you’re from Nakatsugawa Station, take a bus to the Nakasendo Trail. If you’re from Nagiso Station, walk to the Nakasendo Trail. After hiking the Nakasendo Trail for about four hours, return to Nakatsugawa Station or Nagiso Station, stay the night at a lodging, and relax before heading to your next destination the next day. *If you just want to see the post towns, it’s about a two-hour bus ride.
